Job Description

Are you ready for an exciting opportunity to apply your mechanical expertise in a highly specialised field?

We are proud to represent our client, a leader in the design and manufacture of advanced maritime control systems, who are seeking Mechanical Technicians based on a temporary contract for 6 months.

In this role, you will be instrumental in building, manufacturing, and assembling high-quality equipment that supports maritime operations across both commercial and defence sectors.

What You'll Do:

  • Mechanical Assembly: Carry out detailed fitting and assembly of various components, utilising your skills in small-bore stainless piping.
  • Quality Control: Read and interpret engineering drawings and specifications, ensuring that all work adheres to strict safety and quality standards.
  • Feedback & Improvement: Provide insights on design and assembly issues to enhance processes and efficiency, while working in a fast-paced, regulated environment.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with team members and other departments, fostering strong working relationships to achieve project goals.
  • Safety Compliance: Maintain a clean and safe workspace, adhering to Health & Safety regulations and best practices.

What You Bring:

  • Technical Skills: Strong hands-on mechanical skills, particularly in small-bore piping, with experience in fittings such as Swagelok and Parker.
  • Attention to Detail: A keen eye for precision and quality, ensuring all tasks are completed to the highest standards.
  • Adaptability & Teamwork: Proven ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team, even under pressure.
  • Industry Experience: Background in manufacturing, defence, or shipbuilding, with familiarity in short batch runs or prototype manufacturing.
  • Safety Commitment: A strong dedication to safety and quality in all aspects of work

What is Desirable?

  • Qualifications: ONC/NVQ in engineering and relevant apprenticeship in mechanical engineering is highly desirable.
  • Lean and 5S Methodologies: Familiarity with Lean practices and 5S methodology is highly desirable, showcasing your commitment to continuous improvement and operational efficiency.
  • Additional Skills: Tig welding or cupro-nickel brazing experience is a plus.
